Our rules

How we keep reviews honest

Book Bounty only works if the opinions in it are real. These are the rules every member agrees to, the reasons behind them, and what we do to enforce them. They apply to everyone, on every plan, for every book.

Readers choose. Nobody is assigned to your book.

Members browse the library and pick books in the genres they enjoy. We never push a book onto a reader or match people up. A reader who chose your book wanted to read it, which is the best starting point an honest opinion can have.

No review swaps

If a member reads and reviews your book, their books are hidden from you and yours from them for a long protection period. There's no messaging between members either, so there's nothing to arrange. The library hides any book that would create a swap, so you don't have to think about it.

Books go round, not back.

A minimum reading time for every book

Every book carries a reading window sized to its length, from a couple of days for a short book to more than a week for a long one. A review can't be turned in before that time has passed. Books deserve real attention, and reading at a natural pace is better for everyone.

Any rating is fine

Every rating is welcome, whether it's one star or five. Members are never expected to leave a positive review. Honest opinions are what make this community valuable, and a thoughtful three-star review is just as welcome as a five-star one!

Reviews are the reader's own words

Every review must be original and reflect the reader's own experience with the book. Reviews should be specific to the book and written in a language the reader actually reads. Copy-and-paste templates and AI-generated reviews are not allowed.

Every book is checked before it joins the library

Our team looks at every book before it goes on the shelf. It keeps the library full of real books from real authors, and keeps out anything that would make readers' time a waste.

We enforce it

Our team reviews reports and watches for patterns: templated text, coordinated timing, reviews that don't match the book, reading that happens faster than reading can. Members who break the rules get a warning, a suspension or, for serious cases, a permanent ban. The full list lives in our terms of service.
