The walkthrough

How Book Bounty works

Book Bounty is a community of indie authors who read each other's books. Here's the whole loop, from adding your first book to hearing what readers thought, and the rules that keep it fair for everyone.

Add your book

Enter your book's title, author, genre, language and its Amazon details. Our team checks every book before it joins the library, which keeps the shelves full of real books from real authors. Add as many as you like. One membership covers every book you write.

Post a bounty

A bounty is your book's listing in the library, open for members to choose. When you create a bounty, your book appears in the library next to everyone else's, with its genre, length, and how a reader can get a copy. One bounty per book shows in the library at a time. It's like a vending machine: when one of your bounties is chosen, the next will appear. The more bounties you create, and the different options you choose, the more your books can show to more members in more places in the library.

Readers choose it

Members browse the library and pick the books they want to read, in the genres they enjoy. Three things are true of every reader who chooses your book: they chose it themselves, they haven't had a book of theirs read by you during the protection period, and they have a minimum reading time to get through it. Nobody is asked to be positive.

Hear what they thought

Readers finish your book and share their honest opinion, whatever it is. Reviews are written in the reader's own words and reflect their own opinions. You keep track of all your reviews in your book's dashboard.

Ways readers get your book

When you post a bounty you choose how a reader gets a copy. Every author plan includes all of these.

  • Free download

You share a free copy of the ebook through Book Bounty. The simplest option, and the most common.

  • Kindle+

Readers with their own Kindle+ subscription borrow your book there. Books enrolled in KDP Select are welcome.

  • Verified purchase

The reader buys your ebook on Amazon at its listed price, so the copy they read is one they bought.

  • Print copy

The reader buys your paperback. A good fit for coloring books, journals, workbooks and anything that's meant to be held. Readers can add photos or a short video of the pages when you ask for them.

The rules in one place

  • Readers choose. Nobody is assigned to your book
  • No review swaps. A member can't read a book by someone who read theirs during the protection period
  • A minimum reading time for every book, based on its length
  • Any rating is fine. A positive opinion is never required
  • Every book is checked by our team before it joins the library
  • Reviews are the reader's own words. No templates, no AI-written reviews
